It's all coming together...

Our floors are done! Wayne is a hardwood magician. I don't know how he managed to remove all of the scratches, but the floors look brand new. As a refresher, this is what they looked like before:And here is the same spot..After

Our bedroom

The Hallway

Now that we can finally start to unpack, I figured it was time for a few fall decorations and our official welcome mat. It's time for visitors!
We dusted off the cobwebs and the caterpillar off of the dining room set that was hidden away in the garage. This is courtesy of the Kibbe-Collins who donated it to us when they were getting ready to move. We've spent a lot of time playing cards and hanging out with them at this table, so we're very happy to have it in our new house and make some new memories.
The runner is from The Christmas Tree Shop. I also picked up some spooky Halloween decorations!

We have narrowed down the great couch hunt to two and are mulling over the choices for a few days. We have to be pretty sure what we want when we go back to Bob's Furniture because the sales sharks will begin circling us as soon as we walk through the door. Both sets are brown, tan vs camel, both microfiber, and both very comfortable. The difference is that one has recliners and is more structured but puffy, and the other has no recliners and was more squooshy.
In sad news, we haven't seen our friend the praying mantis in a few days. We're wondering if the noise from the sanding scared him away. We hope he's still out in the yard somewhere!
Tim is also very sad about the Red Sox collapse today. We can't talk about that now, the wound is too fresh.

We're officially exhausted

We have the floor guy coming tomorrow to begin sanding our sad wood floors so we had to finish up the projects that we were in the midst of. For tonight that meant:
One last coat of "Cherry Chocolate" in the office
Painting the ceiling in the Master. Our necks hurt, but the room is a lot brighter! I also ended up with some paint in the eye.

Changing the hinges and doorknob on the hall closet door and rehanging. We are getting rid of the gold hardware and going with brushed nickel. It goes with our beach house theme!

Tim and I moved all the empty paint cans, tarps, dirty brushes, and bags down to the garbage and into the garage. For the first time since we moved in, it doesn't feel like a construction zone! We are getting to the bottom of our pantry because we haven't been to the store in a week. Rice for dinner! And we have a new neighbor, a large praying mantis that we found on the inside screen of our front door last night. We freaked out (they're huge!) and slammed the big front door and Tim let it free this morning. He must like us though because he was on the doorframe(outside) when I came home from work today.
On the agenda for tomorrow: Couch shopping!!

And now for something completely different..

Just kidding...more painting! T and I worked every night this past week and I flew solo this weekend while T put in his once a quarter weekend at his actual job. The only time that I put down the paintbrush this weekend was to go to Lowes and then meet T at a local bar to watch the Patriots. I'm exhausted. Check out some before and after's!

Stay tuned for more this week. We started working on the office late this afternoon and will be finishing up the master bedroom tomorrow night. We have to get the painting finished up in the next two days because we are having our floors resanded and restained this Thursday.

Painting Day 2

Before: The doorframe was a really dark wood. After: Cool Gray!
Master Bedroom

More dark wood transformed into Cool Gray

The Master Bedroom: Thunder Gray, coat 1

The M family painting adventure!

Let the fun begin! We were up at 6:30 Saturday morning, drank our coffee, finished taping, then headed off to Lowes with our paint list. We decided on Seaside Villa and Dockside Harbor for the living room and dining room and Cool Gray for the baseboards and trim. We'll eventually paint the hallway doors with the Cool Gray also. Whoever said that painting is 90% prep and 10% painting was correct! We spent Friday night washing down the walls with TSP, spackling, sanding, and taping.

The super dark wood we desided to paint. We liked the wood but it was in terrible shape so we're hoping the white will bring it back to life.

Back stateside and back online!

Finally! I missed my blog. I have close to 1000 photos uploading even as we speak. T and I have been globe trotting and eating, choosing paint colors and unpacking. T was home today entertaining window people and floor refinishers. He was also here waiting for the cable people to reconnect us to the outside world. And here we are! I will be updating a lot the next few days because if I tried to upload all of the gorgeous Italy photos, I might crash our new hookup. Suffice it to say, Italy was Bellisimo! We ate the most delicious food I've ever tasted and saw incredible sights. We were up early every day, running off to museums and churches. I managed to stop at quite Gelaterias along the way! More details to follow, but we are back and starting to get settled in the new homestead. Love to all!
